Compensatory Damages, C. Measure and Elements in Breach-of-Contract Cases, 1. In General, \u00a7 48 &#8211; Generally<\/h2>\n<p>Damages for breach of contract serve the same purpose as restoration damages: to make the injured party whole.[<a href=\"#fn1\" name=\"fn-ref1\">1<\/a>] In breach-of-contract cases, the injured party is entitled to recover all damages that accrue naturally from the breach.[<a href=\"#fn2\" name=\"fn-ref2\">2<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>However, contract damages are intended only to compensate an injured party fairly and adequately for the loss sustained.[<a href=\"#fn3\" name=\"fn-ref3\">3<\/a>] That is, an award of damages is measured by,[<a href=\"#fn4\" name=\"fn-ref4\">4<\/a>] or judged solely by,[<a href=\"#fn5\" name=\"fn-ref5\">5<\/a>] the losses suffered by the plaintiff as a result of the breach.
